I recently attended a Travel Bloggers Conference (TBEX) in Toronto and needed a place to stay. Downtown Toronto is full of hotels and I wanted something that was within walking distance of the convention center. I decided on the Hyatt Regency because it was in a good location it looked like a nice hotel.
CHECK IN
My stay at the Hyatt started off like all hotel stays should start off. I arrived at 12:00 pm which is four hours before official check in time and was told that my room was ready. Not only was it ready but I was upgraded to a corner room on a high floor. I love being up high and having a view. I also asked the Front Desk Clerk about WiFi and he gave me a free code that I could use for the rest of my stay. They usually charge for WiFi so this was a nice gesture.
The whole check in process was friendly and efficient. I was up in my room less than ten minutes after I walked in the front door. This was great for me because I had a full schedule that day and needed to get to my first appointment. I had also taken an overnight flight and wanted to get cleaned up before going out.
THE ROOM
The rooms had been renovated in the last five years and included a very comfortable bed, desk with chair, separate chair and table and a flat screen TV. It was perfect for what I needed.
THE BATHROOM
This is where my only complaint of this hotel comes from. The bathroom was small and did not have enough counter space. There was also only one hook for towels which made it difficult to reuse them because they did not dry enough. The only part of the bathroom that I did like the walk in shower and there was good water pressure which is important.
AMENITIES
The hotel has all the amenities that you expect in a hotel such as a pool, work out room, business center, two restaurants and two bars. There was even a Starbucks attached to the lobby for those people that need their coffee fix. I did not get to use the pool or work out room but did take advantage of the business center to print out my boarding passes.
CONCLUSION
The location of the hotel was excellent. It is located on King Street which has just about every type of restaurant you could want. The street car runs outside the front door and you can take that to other areas of the city. The airport shuttle also has a stop on the same corner so that makes it very convenient. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful anytime I needed help.
Overall I enjoyed my stay at the Hyatt Regency Toronto.
