Joan Miró Museum in Barcelona

August 11, 2013 By Jeff 3 Comments

The Joan Miró Museum in Barcelona is a nice way to spend a couple of hours.  It is not your typical art museum with dark rooms and art by many different artists.  Instead the museum is bright and open that allows Miró’s colorful art to be showcased in great location overlooking Barcelona.

The Joan Miró Foundation opened in 1975 and has the largest collection of Miró works in the world.  Most of the artwork was donated by Miró or his family members.

Below are some examples of the Joan Miró’s colorful artwork that you will find at the museum.

I do not spend as much time in art museums as I used to but I did enjoy my visit to the Joan Miró Museum.  If you are in Barcelona and want to see a different type of museum I would recommend visiting it.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

  • The museum is open every day except Monday.
  • It is located on Montjuïc overlooking Barcelona
  • The museum is accessible by bus or the Funicular from Paral·lel metro station.
  • Visit the Museums Website for more information.

It was a nice change from the usual stuffy museums.

That is what I call artwork. That is a cool way of spending your time in Barcelona.
